LETTER OF GOOD CONDUCT

You may apply for Letter of Good Conduct either in India or in Malaysia (through counter or online)

 

FOR APPLICATION IN INDIA

The following are the documents required for Malaysian Letter of Good Conduct application* :

 

(i)            Covering letter from applicant;

(ii)            Letter for the Embassy who required Good Conduct Certificate (if any)

(iii)            Passport (original and copy);

(iv)            Malaysian Identity Card / MyKad (original and copy - - photocopy of both side - for Malaysian Only);

(v)            2 Letter of Good Conduct (LoGC) forms (available at consular counter or download it according to the following :

(vi)            2 recent passport size photograph (in blue background);

(vii)            A self-address envelope (A4 size) with sufficient stamp(s) for postage; and

(viii)            Fee of Rs.300.

Letter of Good Conduct is processed in two - three months. Under certain circumstances, the process will take more three months.

 

FAQ FOR APPLICATION IN MALAYSIA / ONLINE

 

1. How do I apply for a letter of good conduct?

The application could be made online at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs's website: http://www.kln.gov.my and click: e-Consular under Online Services.
 

2. What is the instruction to applicant / required documents for submission?

The completed application form must be printed and submitted with supporting documents within two (2) weeks from the date of application through counter or via post to the following address:

 

i. Application from Malaysian citizen/non-citizen in Malaysia

ii. Application from Malaysian citizen/non-citizen abroad
           
Applications must be sent to the respective offices of Malaysian Missions   overseas. Please refer to the address of Malaysian Missions overseas HERE.    

 

The documents required are as follows:

 

A. Submission through the Consular Service Counter in Putrajaya or   Sabah / Sarawak Regional Office    

 

(i) Application from Malaysian citizen

 

1. Two (2) copies of the duly completed application form for the Certificate of Good Conduct;
2. Two (2) certified copies of identification card;
3. Two (2) certified copies of passport namely pages that contain details and signature of the applicant;
4. Two (2) recent passport-sized photographs;  and
5. Two (2) copies of Statutory Declaration, except for applicant who will be visiting any of the following countries: The United States of America, Singapore, Spain, France or Papua New Guinea.

 

(ii) Application from non-citizen

 

1. Two (2) copies of the duly completed application form for the Certificate of Good Conduct;
2. One (1) introduction letter from the employer/Higher Learning Institution;
3. Two (2) certified copies of passport namely pages that contain details, visa stamp and signature of the applicant; and
4. Two (2) recent passport-sized photographs.

 

3. How much is the processing fee for Certificate of Good Conduct?

i. Application in person at the Consular Service Counter in Putrajaya or Sabah /    Sarawak Regional Office. Ringgit Malaysia Twenty Only (RM 20.00) in cash, Postal Order or Bank Draft (Payable to: AKAUNTAN NEGARA MALAYSIA).
 
ii.Through Mail/By Post.
Ringgit Malaysia Twenty Only (RM20.00) in Postal Order or Bank Draft only (Payable to: AKAUNTAN NEGARA MALAYSIA). Enclose self-addressed envelope size A4 with sufficient stamp.
 
iii. Application could also be made at any Malaysian Missions overseas.   Ringgit   Malaysia Twenty Only (RM 20.00) or equivalent in cash.

 

4. What is the status of my letter of good conduct?

Please check the status of your previous application at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs's website: http://www.kln.gov.my and click: e-Consular under Online Services. Enter your Identification No. and Password then click: Check Status/ Update Details.

 

5. What is the processing time for letter of good conduct for Malaysians?

Application for Certificate of Good Conduct submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia in Putrajaya or the Regional Offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia in Sabah and Sarawak could be processed within a day.

 

The certificate could be issued on the same day or at the latest by the following day for all countries except for the five countries; The United States of America, Singapore, Spain, France and Papua New Guinea.

 

All applications must be accompanied with the statutory declaration attested by approved commissioner of oaths except for the five countries mentioned above.

Any applicant who fails to obtain the statutory declaration, his or her application would be subjected to security vetting (processing period is between 1 to 2 months).

 

6. What is the processing time for letter of good conduct for Foreigners?

Application for Certificate of Good Conduct submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia in Putrajaya or the Regional Offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia in Sabah and Sarawak would be processed between 1 to 2 months. The certificate would be issued after the processing period.
