For your information, non-muslim citizens who get married outside Malaysia MUST register the marriage to any Malaysian High Commission / Embassy / Mission abroad within the period of six (6) months from the date of marriage. This is a legal requirement and for the marriage to be legally recognised in Malaysia. In order to register*, both husband and wife must present the following:-


(i)            Covering letter from applicant;

(ii)            Passport of the couple (original & 2 copies - page no. 1, 2 and 3);

(iii)           Malaysian Identity Card / MyKad (original & 2 copies photocopy of both side);

(iv)           Foreign Country Marriage Certificate (original & 2 copies - attested by Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India);

(v)            2 recent passport size photographs (in blue background) each;

(vi)           1 marriage photograph;

(vii)          Marital Status / Single Status Verification from National Registration Department of Malaysia (JPN); and

(viii)         Registration fee of Rs.300 for registration made within (6) months from the date of marriage.


* Registration of marriage is processed in 2 working days.



Application can be submitted at High Commission of Malaysia, 50-M, Satya Marg, Chanakyapuri, 110 021 - New Delhi. Submission time for visa is from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm and collection time           is from 4.00 pm to 4.30 pm (Monday – Friday).
