AUTHENTICATION / ATTESTATION OF DOCUMENTS

 

Before document(s) can be accepted in Malaysia, it needs to be attested.

 

Documents that required attestation are the documents issued by the Indian Authority with the signatures or seals of Indian Public Officials - such as :

 

(i)            Solicitors;

(ii)           Additional Divisional Magistrate (ADM) / Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) / Notaries Public;

(iii)          Registrars;

(iv)          Officials Chambers of Commerce; or

(v)           Others.

 

(Please ensure the officials who sign the document is located at the origin of the document(s). E.g. if the certificate is fro Kolkata, SDM from Kolkata has to sign as a first attestation)

After the attestation by the above, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)*, Government of India is required to attest it before it can be attested by the High Commission of Malaysia. The documents required for attestation are as follow:

 

(i)            Covering letter from applicant;

(ii)           Authorization letter (if applicant’s representative submit the application);

(iii)          Document(s) for attestation; and

(iv)          Fee for attestation of INR150.00 per attestation / document.

 

*          Only attestation from Ministry Of External Affairs ( MEA), CPV Division, Attestation Cell, Patiala House Annexe, Tilak Marg, New Delhi (Ph—2338 7931) is accepted.

Under normal circumstances documents submitted for attestation could be collected on the following working day. In certain cases, it could be more than that.
